And the Innocent Cry
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
Little girl lays, eyes wide open
Wanting sleep to come her way
Tortured by the guilty feelings
That plague her mind day after day
There was no hero there to rescue
No one to save her soul that day
When her childhood was stolen
Evil took from her away
And the innocent cry
Still she goes on with the secret
Shamed that she had done the wrong
No one knows the weight she carries
As she wills her life along
While the innocent cry
If only she could be forgiven
For the wrong she did not do
She knows that rest will find her somehow
If only other people knew
And then one night she finds the courage
To share her secret with someone
Who assures her she's forgiven
For a crime she has not done
Not alone, the innocent cry
Night in peace she drifts to sleep
Guilt no longer holds her mind
Loss and sadness still shall linger
But forgiveness she did find
Still, the innocent cry
